<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In 2004, Ryan Moore had one of the best single seasons in amateur golf. We honor this outstanding feat in our Top 50 Amateurs of All Time&nbsp;<br><br>In 2004, he won the @USGA Amateur, the @westernamateur , the @USGA Publinx (also won in 2002) and the NCAA individual championship. The following spring in the 2005 Masters, he earned low amateur honors eventually tying for 13th!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A tremendous run for a tremendous player who has gone on to become a 5-time PGA Tour winner following his amateur success.</p>

He was a semi-finalist at 1963 British Amateur. He played on three winning WalkerCup teams (1963, 1965, 1969) and captained the 1975 team to a win. Interestingly enough, Updegraff also finished in a tie for 4th place at the 1969 Tucson Open on the PGA Tour but failed to sign his scorecard and was disqualified! We are sure he felt better after receiving the Bob Jones Award from the @USGA in 1999. <img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" class="size-medium wp-image-144 aligncenter" src="https://i0.wp.com/silverclubgolfingsociety.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/40584466_1060827917417282_9094700103771357184_n-300x169.jpg?resize=300%2C169" alt="" width="300" height="169" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/silverclubgolfingsociety.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/40584466_1060827917417282_9094700103771357184_n.jpg?resize=300%2C169&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/silverclubgolfingsociety.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/40584466_1060827917417282_9094700103771357184_n.jpg?resize=768%2C432&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/silverclubgolfingsociety.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/40584466_1060827917417282_9094700103771357184_n.jpg?resize=640%2C360&amp;ssl=1 640w, https://i0.wp.com/silverclubgolfingsociety.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/40584466_1060827917417282_9094700103771357184_n.jpg?resize=100%2C56&amp;ssl=1 100w, https://i0.wp.com/silverclubgolfingsociety.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/40584466_1060827917417282_9094700103771357184_n.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w" sizes="(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px" /> 2011 and 2013 WalkerCup Captain <strong>Jim Holtgrieve</strong> has had a long and distinguished amateur career and has given so much back to the game. He won the inaugural U.S. Mid Amateur in 1981, was runner up at the 1983 British Am and made it to the semis in the 1980 U.S. Am as well as being a 3 time Walker Cup competitor. <img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" class="size-medium wp-image-174 aligncenter" src="https://i0.wp.com/silverclubgolfingsociety.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/41158177_1061838170649590_1120636136658567168_n-300x300.jpg?resize=300%2C300" alt="" width="300" height="300" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/silverclubgolfingsociety.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/41158177_1061838170649590_1120636136658567168_n.jpg?resize=300%2C300&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/silverclubgolfingsociety.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/41158177_1061838170649590_1120636136658567168_n.jpg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w, https://i0.wp.com/silverclubgolfingsociety.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/41158177_1061838170649590_1120636136658567168_n.jpg?resize=640%2C640&amp;ssl=1 640w, https://i0.wp.com/silverclubgolfingsociety.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/41158177_1061838170649590_1120636136658567168_n.jpg?resize=480%2C480&amp;ssl=1 480w, https://i0.wp.com/silverclubgolfingsociety.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/41158177_1061838170649590_1120636136658567168_n.jpg?resize=100%2C100&amp;ssl=1 100w, https://i0.wp.com/silverclubgolfingsociety.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/41158177_1061838170649590_1120636136658567168_n.jpg?resize=592%2C592&amp;ssl=1 592w, https://i0.wp.com/silverclubgolfingsociety.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/41158177_1061838170649590_1120636136658567168_n.jpg?resize=240%2C240&amp;ssl=1 240w, https://i0.wp.com/silverclubgolfingsociety.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/41158177_1061838170649590_1120636136658567168_n.jpg?resize=50%2C50&amp;ssl=1 50w, https://i0.wp.com/silverclubgolfingsociety.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/41158177_1061838170649590_1120636136658567168_n.jpg?w=750&amp;ssl=1 750w" sizes="(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px" />A classic pose from <strong>O. Gordon Brewer Jr</strong>, former president at Pine Valley, arguably the world&#8217;s greatest course. As a player, he made it into a mind-boggling 42 USGA national championships, capping his competitive career with two victories in the U.S. Senior Amateur (1994, ’96). He also won five Crump Cups.</p>
